An exotic horseback riding vacation waits for you in Abu Dhabi.  Abu Dhabi means the “Land of the Gazelle” in Arabic and was founded when a young antelope led a wandering tribe to fresh water on an island. Here a small village with palm just, coral buildings and a ruler’s fort sprang into the modern, cosmopolitan city and the high-rise capital of the United Arab Emirates. This desert ride offers the swift Arabian horse as your mount and trails that traverse between tradition and modernity. You will follow the footsteps of Wilfried Thessinger as you ride across the Al Watbha desert and the oasis village of Al Ain.  You will begin the memorable ride with a non-riding tour of the Abu Dhabi City and tours of the Grand Mosque, Heritage Village, the Iranian and Date Markets, the Fishing Harbor, Yas Island and a drive pass Sadiyaat Island. Here you will enjoy a cultural experience as you taste and buy dates and see the fishermen and their catch of the day. Your group will also take a walk along the Corniche promenade, five miles in length is the longest in the U.A.E.  You will return home with many exotic memories to share!

  • Ride Itinerary - Abu Dhabi Ride

    Day 1:
After an evening flight from Europe, you will arrive early  at the Abu Dhabi airport and be transferred to your hotel for breakfast and relaxing morning. In the afternoon you will visit Abu Dhabi city and tour the Grand Mosque, Heritage Village, the Iranian and Date Markets, the Fishing Harbor, Yas Island and a drive pass Saadiyat Island.

    Day 2/3/4/5:
Each day, you will enjoy a dynamic early morning or late evening rides according to weather and temperature. A nice breakfast and a sampling of the local Karak tea comprised of strong black tea with camel milk will greet you. Then you will mount your Arabian horse to ride the beautiful tracks of the Abu Dhabi Endurance village..75 miles/120 kilometers of desert tracks! The style of the village’s architecture with an old fort with seven towers is part of the rich heritage but the instruments, equipment and facilities are the latest in their field, whether it be the veterinary clinic, the media centre or other services. It combines the heritage of the past with technology of tomorrow. The ‘Emirates International Endurance Village’ is a gift from Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Director General of the President’s Office and Board Chairman of the International Petroleum Investment Company, to the sport of endurance not only in the UAE, but also to all the competitors from the Arab countries and the world. You will ride south and enter Al Watbha white sand desert. Along the way, you will pass salt lakes, camel farms and spectrum colored sand dunes.  You might even spot desert gazelles. You will also ride in direction of Oman border, to reach Al Ain Oasis which is one of the world’s oldest permanently inhabited settlements, and a UNESCO World HeritageSite. The city abounds in picturesque forts. One of the UAE’s most historic buildings, Al Jahili Fort was erected in 1891 to defend the city and protect precious palm groves and is home to a permanent exhibition of the work of British adventurer Sir Wilfred Thesiger and his 1940s crossings of the Rub Al Khali (The Empty Quarter) desert. The redeveloped Al Qattara Fort is now home to a brilliant arts centre and gallery, offering hundreds of modern exhibits within its walls and with spaces for a variety of workshops – from pottery and painting to music and calligraphy.

    Day 6:
After a morning ride, you will be transferred to your Hotel al Ain.

    Day 7 :
After a nice late breakfast, your group will tour Al Ain. Al Ain means the eye or the source and is an oasis city and the second largest in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. Having a history dating back to the 4th millennium BC, Al Ain is one of the agricultural centers of the Emirates and a university town. Al Ain is also famous for date plantations. You will also see how the Sheikhs used to live in an exhibit at the Al Ain palace Museum. Also you will tour the picturesque Al Jahili Fort is one of the UAE’s most historic buildings. It was erected in 1891 to defend the city and protect precious palm groves. The former headquarters of the Oman Trucial Scouts, the force that protected the mountain passes and kept inter-tribal peace, it also served as a residence for the local governor. An Al Ain landmark, the fort has been carefully restored and now houses a permanent exhibition of the work of British adventurer Sir Wilfred Thesiger (whom the locals affectionately refer to as ‘Mubarak Bin London’) and his 1940s crossings of the Rub Al Khali, “The Empty Quarter” Desert. The neat and well kept roundabouts, the bridges running over dry river beds are seen all over the city. A visit to the camel market is a must. Then you will find your way to the foot of Jebel Hafit, part of the Hajar Mountain range, where the hot springs can be found. It is now a recreation and relaxation place for families. You will then be transferred to Abu Dhabi end of the day.

    Day 8:
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport.
