    A true adventure horseback riding vacation in the Amazon! This ecosystem of unrivaled in size and diversity and is twice as large as India. The Amazon River has more water than eight of the largest rivers combined. A life spring of the planet, it is the source of air, water and weather that we rely on. Your trails will allow you to search for monkeys, sloths, giant otters, and native birds and big pirarucús fish which can be up to 9 feet in length! You will also cross paths with gauchos (native cowboys) as they herd the grazing water buffalo through flooded fields.
    In addition, a riverboat tour along the Amazon River is planned. The ghostly roar of howler monkeys, the remarkable variety of plant life, the kindliness of riverside villages and the awesome power of the river will provide an amazing adventure. Best time to visit May to June. The driest months are from September to November.

  • Ride Itinerary - Amazon River Ride

    Day 1
    You will be transferred from the Belém/Val de Cans–Júlio Cezar Ribeiro International Airport to your Belem hotel.  Depending on your arrival, you may have time to visit Mangal das Garça Reserve. The reserve is recognized nationally for bringing the public closer to the natural beauties of the Amazon, Mangal das Garças has several actions focused on tourism as well as on the environment. 

    Day 2
    After a 6:00 AM breakfast, you will depart to the Port of Belem to board a boat to Marajo Island. You will sail for two hours crossing the Amazon River to reach the world’s largest freshwater island at the mouth of the Amazon. On arrival at the island, you will be driven to the port of Salvaterra village where a fast boat will be waiting to take your group to Ilha da Rpça Farm. In the afternoon, your first ride goes through the forest of Ingás with beautiful palm trees and fields.  At Flecheiras farm, you will do a short buffalo ride. You will return to the Ilha da Rpça Farm for dinner and overnight.

    Day 3
    Your destination is the Anjos farm and the ginat pirarucús fish lake. The fish are among the world’s largest freshwater fish, reaching as much as 3 m (9.8 ft).  After lunch, you will ride with the Anjo’s gauchos as they tend to their water buffalo.  In the afternoon, you will return to Ilha da Roça farm for dinner and overnight.

    Day 4
    Your trail will take you to Fazenda Bangu. Along the way, you will pass Tapera and São Luiz farms. At the dock of Fazenda Bangu, your group will take a fast boat to go to Sanjo Farm. Time permitting, you may be taken along the Furo Miguelão channel under the mangrove forest and igapó forest.  It was built to shorten the navigation among farms in the region. Inside the hole, with a bit of luck, you will have to spot howler monkeys, sloths, giant otters, and some species of birds. The goal is to observe species of the Marajoara fauna such as maguaris, white and blue herons, red guarás, loons, mallards and many others. With a little luck, you will be able to see guariba (howler monkeys) and capybaras, common in this region. Dinner and overnight at Sanjo Farm.

    Day 5
    This morning you will ride with Sanjo’s gauchos as they herd the grazing water buffalo back through flooded fields to the ranch. They will be separating the pregnant cows and those that have just given birth from the rest of the herd. After lunch at Sanjo, you will ride across bush areas to the river’s edge where the farm port, Bom Jardim farm is located. Along the way, you will stop at the farmhouse for a coffee. Return to Sanjo for dinner and overnight.

    Day 6
    After breakfast, your group will ride to the San Sebastian farm for lunch. Afterward, open fields will lead you to the corral where the Cowboys will demonstrate how they work with their horses. Your day ends in Sanjo with dinner and overnight.

    Day 7
    After breakfast, your group will departure by boat from Sanjo to the village of Soure where you will visit the Marajoara Ceramics Works of the Artisan Carlos Amaral.  He reproduces Aruan cultural pieces. The Aruan was the last indigenous ethnic group to inhabit Marajó.  Then you will visit the Artisan’s Works of Ronaldo Guedes, a contemporary artist, who reproduces native Marajó ceramic and wood collected from beaches and mangroves artwork. Finally, you will visit the local saddle maker and leather good.  His craft was handed down through the generations. After lunch in the village, you will board a boat to Belem. On arrival, you will transfer to your hotel.

    Day 8
    After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport.
