  • Ride Overview - The Sand Dunes and Beaches of Andalusia Ride
    • Beaches/Forests
    • Stationary

If you enjoy riding across endless beaches and descending windsurf sand dunes, you will love this ride! Located on the southernmost tip of Spain (you can see Africa in the distance!) your trails will also lead you deep into the Andalusian countryside to visit the historic Sanctuary of Light and picnic in pungent pine forests. You will ford a river to enjoy a delightful Spanish lunch at a popular traditional restaurant. Depending on the season, a non-riding visit to one of the largest cattle and horse ranches in Spain or to Jerez, the horse capital of Spain is also planned. Your Andalusian horse was trained with natural horsemanship and most go without bits.   RIDING IN SPAIN

  • Ride Itinerary - The Sand Dunes and Beaches of Andalusia Ride

    Day 1: Sunday
Transfer from the Malaga, Jerez or Gibraltar Airports to your hotel. After you have settled into your lodging room, you are welcome to visit the stable to confirm your agenda.

    Day 2: Monday
Meet at the stables where you will get to know your guide and your horse for the week. You will also receive an introduction to the natural way of Spanish riding. The discipline allows horses to be bitless and utilize weight and voice as aids. The Spanish horses are amazing teachers. Practice the Spanish riding style on your first ride through the pine woods and along the endless, golden beach, Playa de los Lances.” After the ride, your group will gather for a small snack to discuss the weekly program and then enjoy a beach ride.

    Day 3: Tuesday
Your trail will take you into the picturesque Andalusian countryside. Your pace is slower as your horse carries you along lush fields and narrow pathways to the historic Sanctuary of Light church. A picnic lunch will be served at the Sanctuary and then you will ride back to the stable.

    Day 4: Wednesday
Ride along the hillside to the amazing sand dunes of “Punta Paloma.”  You will climb the dunes at this world famous windsurf beach of Tarifa. Enjoy the views and have fun sliding down the dune on horseback. After this special adventure, you will enjoy a picnic in romantic pine woods.

    Day 5: Thursday
A free day where you can relax or discover the surroundings of Tarifa. Visit the beautiful bay of Bolonia and the historic ruins; watch whales;  see a show of the dancing Andalusian horses in Jerez; enjoy the beach or the village of Tarifa.

    Day 6: Friday
Ride into the hills of Tarifa, with stunning views over the valley, beaches and over to Africa. You will reach the southernmost part of the cork oak forest, called “ Los Alcornocales” Mules are still used to transport the cork, which is cut every 7 years. This is a beautiful ride into the remote backlands of Tarifa passing by herds of free-roaming farm animals. You will enjoy a picnic in the middle of the cork oak wood before you ride back through a beautiful valley.

    Day 7: Saturday
After enjoying a ride along the beach, you will ride inland to a traditional Andalusian restaurant for lunch.  On the way back, you will ride through the countryside passing a private Spanish farm.

    Day 8: Sunday
