The sand is as long and beautiful as the Algarve but without the bustling tourists.  You will ride across the quiet Comporta Beach which is considered Portugal’s best secret beach. Old roads lined with pine trees and rice paddies traverses past the white houses and calm streets of Melides, a traditional Altentejo village, to the Melides Beach, a long stretch of sand that separates the sea and a lagoon. You will visit the old city of Alcácer do Sal crowned by castles whose medieval cobbled streets, worn over time, cluster around the banks of the Sado River In addition, your trail will lead you to the hilltop perched Santiago do Cacém Castel.  Along the way, you will have plenty of opportunities for refreshing canters and bird watching.   RIDING IN PORTUGAL
