    An incredible horseback riding vacation in Spain! We have never found a horseback riding vacation whose location has been the site for so many movies! Andalusia, with its breathtaking emerald coastal waters brushing against pristine white sand and the red ochre jagged cliffs of Spain‘s largest volcanic mountains, have served as the location for “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade,” “Lawrence of Arabia,” “The Good, The Bad and the Ugly” and “A Fistful of Dollars.” Your horse will carry you along narrow trails through this protected area of wild and isolated landscapes as well as to hidden pirate coves and bohemian villages. The weather is perfect for winter riding as it boasts the only warm desert climate in Europe. This is a fast-paced ride so get ready for some good gallops! You will return home with amazing memories of this Spanish horseback riding vacation!  RIDING IN SPAIN

  • Ride Itinerary - Coastal Cliffs of Andalusia Ride

    Day 1:
    You will be transferred from Almeria Airport, bus station or train station or Granada airport to the equestrian center. Presentation of the ride, dinner and overnight in a nice hotel in Rodalquilar.

    Day 2:
     In the morning, after breakfast, allocation of horses and adaptation to the career before the start of the hike. For the first day, you discover the eastern part of the Natural Park. You head to “la torre de los lobos” (the tower of the wolves) where you can enjoy the view of the whole natural park if the weather is clear up to the snow capped peaks of the Sierra Nevada. You ride to the beach of “el playazo”, known since the Roman presence, which was a haunt of pirates. You cross an oasis of palm trees fed by small springs. Picnic by the sea, at the “cala del cuervo” Night in a hotel with swimming pool Around 5 to 5:30 am on horseback.

    Day 3:
    You leave Rodalquilar by a path that runs along the coast. These trails were once used to monitor the coasts in the event of a pirate attack, which explains the presence of small castles and watchtowers. Picnic on the beach of Escullos, hidden behind its small oasis of palm trees. Night in a comfortable hotel with swimming pool. About 5h30 on horseback.

    Day 4:
    Today you will ride along the Media Luna, el arrecife de las sirenas (the reef mermaids).  This is undoubtedly the last pristine beach in the Mediterranean. The white sand dunes, have been the movie location for many famous films: Indiana Jones, Lawrence of Arabia, and For a Fistful of Dollars. For lunch, you will have a picnic at the foot of the cortijo “el romeral,” one of the traditional facilities that once served as an accommodation for the local farmers. In the afternoon, your group will ride up through the “del tesorillo” valley.  About 6 hours on horseback.

    Day 5:
    The trail leads north of the park along the Sierra de Gata mountains. Here you will see craters of ancient volcanoes surrounded by a lunar landscape and traditional villages like “Los Albaricoques.”  This was the movie location for many famous westerns such as For A Few Dollars, and  The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. The streets are named for Clint Eastwood and Sergio Leone . Lunch will be served at “Cortijo del Fraile. ” Here the events that inspired Federico Garcia to write “Bodas de Sangre” (The Wedding of Blood) took place in the hotel. Approximately 6 hours on horseback.

    Day 6:
    Your guide will lead you along the old gold mine trail which straddles small ravines.  This trail was once the only connection between farms, the  sea and the mountains. The trail continues across the crater of the volcano which now forms the Rodalquilar Valley. You will discover the cliffs which currently still hides gold y and you will visit the old facilities of an abandoned mine. A picnic lunch will be served at the gold mine. Night in a hotel which offers a spa, sauna, hammam, jacuzzi, water jets, optional massages with supplement. About 5 – 5 1/2 hours on horseback.

    Day 7: 
    Your group will ride to Las Negras which is a beautiful fishing village spectacular geology.  At the bottom of the bay is El Cerro Negro (The Black Hill), an impressive rock formation that looks like a tongue of lava. In Las Negras, there are orchards watered by water which comes from small flows of fresh water from the Rambla de las Agüillas and accumulated in small ponds near the sea. A Paella lunch will be served in a seaside restaurant by the sea. 3  – 3 1/2 hours on horseback.

    Day 8:
    After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport.
