“At the estancia we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere combined with wonderful food and wine and Pilar’s professional and friendly service. Rooms were great and best of all, the riding was out of this world. Ramon and Homero couldn’t have planned a better riding program, the horses were great too.” Betty

  • Ride Itinerary - Cordoba Estancia

    Day 1:
You will be transferred from the Córdoba International Airport to the comfortable Estancia Haras Ampascachi in the Valle de Traslasierra. During a two-hour trip, you will enjoy the diverse landscapes and the variety of shades of the Altas Cumbres. Upon arrival at the Estancia, you will be welcomed by the members of the team with some traditional  food and a wine tasting, and depending on the time, even a criollo lunch. The rest of the day is for you to settle into your room and rest. Dinner will be prepared by the estancia’s private chef.

    Day 2:
After a country breakfast,  you will meet your Peruvian Paso horses. Lunch will then be served in the estancia. Next, you will mount up to ride to a dwelling called “Los Algarrobos” in order to visit the Chapel “Nuestra Señora de Fátima.” Along the way, you will ride along streams and farmhouses which seem to be lost in the past. The chapel you will visit is of great value to the region as it was built to honor the beatified priest José Gabriel Brochero, known in Argentina as “El Cura Gaucho” (The Gaucho Priest). Upon arrival at the Chapel, your group will stop at the favorite place, the Cura Brochero,  to enjoy delicious wines and tasty “picada serrana” (sausages and cheese served over a wooden table). You will then ride back to the estancia along a different route.  Dinner will be served at the estancia.

    Day 3:
The delectable smell of home-made pastries and smelling freshly brewed coffee will greet you.  Today, you will have the opportunity to ride your horse up the hillsides of the Altas Cumbres. The Mercado family, who live up in the mountains, will be waiting for us at a place which can only be reached on horseback. Along the way, your group will pass a place called the “Huaico,” hillsides which make a deep hole creating a micro climate and peculiar vegetation. Upon arrival at the house of Mercado family, you will enjoy regional sausages and cheese served over a wooden table while we talk about the local culture and ways of breeding sheep and goats. You will then return to the estancia for a dinner of famous criolla empanadas and roasted meat.  Entertainment for the evening features Argentinean folklore music.

    Day 4:
A new day starts at the estancia with the beauty of the Sierras Cordobesas.  You wii ride your horse to the famous Rocsen Museum. On your way, you will go through a small dwelling called “Las Calles,” whose inhabitants still live in a friendly and quiet way.  You will then cross the Paso de las Tropas river to reach the La Toma natural pool known.  Someone in your group might dare to jump into the crystal water from a rock which is 3 feet/12 meters high. Your route continues along hills until you  arrive at the Rocsen Museum, a magical place built by an artist and his family. This place is known as a multi-faceted museum as you can find dissimilar objects which have been part of the history of mankind. After this visit, you will enjoy delicious local wine and a tasty picada criolla (sausages and cheese served over a wooden table). A different trail will lead you back to the estancia so you can enjoy even more the beauty of the Valle de Traslasierra. Lunch will be served at estancia.   Haras Ampascachi and we will have the rest of the afternoon for free to choose from many activities at the estancia. Passion in any person transcends when this person can share it with others!

    Day 5:
You will start the day enjoying a serrano breakfast made by the chef,  who, as usual, surprises visitors with home-made bread and marmalades.  Your horse will be waiting to carry you through the well-known Valle de Traslasierra. Your trail starts at the river mouth of Los Sauces River which goes down from the Altas Cumbres in the point of the “La Viña” Dam. Before crossing Los Sauces River, you will make a stop to have something to drink at a traditional  bar.  You will then mount up to continue your way further into the hills, crossing rivers and varying your pace to include a gallop. Your destination is the rural dwelling of Ramírez family, a countryside family who emulate the gaucho lifestyle. You will be able to  participate in farm tasks at the hacienda and taste a delicious asado criollo. Later, you will ride back to the  estancia by  crossing the Los Sauces River and heading to the old town of Nono which has a historic church and main plaza. Across the street, there is an old grocery and a convenience store which is more than fifty years old and used to be the favorite stop of the local gauchos.  Upon arrival at the estancia, you will have a campestre supper and the rest of the day is free. At night, we will savor the delicious traditional dishes.

    Day 6:
You can choose to stay at the hacienda and do the activities offered there or you can ride to a campsite for overnight lodging.  The trail will lead you to  the cattle estancia called “Taruca Pampa,” located north of the Pampa de Achala. Your group will arrive around midday and the local dwellers will be waiting for us with a tasty typical dish of the region called “roasted lamb on the coals.” After recovering your energies, you are invited to participate in some tasks at the hacienda on horseback.

    Day 7:
If you stayed at the  estancia, you will continue to enjoy the activities.  If you rode to the camp, you will spend the morning driving cattle. Afterwards, you will stop at the side of the track for a campero picnic. Later, you will be transferred  back to the estancia for a farewell dinner and folklore music.

    Day 8:
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport in Córdoba city.

IMPORTANT: If you do not want to participate in any of the equestrian activities detailed for days 6 and 7, you can stay at the estancia and rest and sunbathe at the pool, or play golf, or if requested, you can participate in the many activities organized for these days as explained in the riding holiday specifications for companions.

Itinerary can change due to unforeseen circumstances.
