“This place was amazing. We stayed in one of the cottages and it was beautiful. It was extremely comfortable with added tea candles which when lit made the cabin very atmospheric. The sky was dark and we managed to see the northern lights when the clouds parted..”
Ride Itinerary - Iceland Glacier River Ride
You will be transferred from the airport to your lodging.
You will ride to Kálfholt to view a historic church and enjoy a BBQ lunch in the beautiful natural surroundings. You will then be able to visit the breeding mares and foals stabled on the same grounds as your guesthouse and end your evening with a relaxing dip in the hot tub.
Your trail will meander along the glacial Pjorsa River to the Bali potato farm.
Your horse will carry you across the Rangá River. The bubbling clear waters are a well-known home to salmon and create a pleasant and memorable experience. After lunch, you will enjoy great riding tracks which are very horse friendly.
You will ride along the banks of the Ranga River to the point where the river meets the sea. The tracks are excellent for the tolt gait, natural to the Icelandic horses. It is a perfect opportunity to take photos of the magnificent scenery while filling your lungs with the pungent salty smell of the ocean. You will then return to the Bali farm by a different route.
Your final day offers leisurely tracks meandering through lovely countryside. On a clear day, you will see the impressive Hekla volcano and the famous Eyjafjallajokull, an ice cap which covers the caldera of a volcano.
After breakfast, you will depart to the airport.
