    An invigorating horseback riding vacation in northern New Zealand!  This remote 16,000 acre high-country property is steeped in New Zealand history.  A favored fishing and hunting ground for ancient Maori tribes, the region also provides incredible riding trails along crystal clear mountain streams which tumbles through towering beech tree forests and native ferns. In addition, you will ride across open alpine meadows of wild grasses. Expect to hear the song of native birds, see spectacular scenery, a variety of deer species, native birds and a combination of temperate and sub-alpine flora. The trails and the terrain are suitable for walking, trotting and cantering, even an exhilarating gallop over the rolling hills! Your lodging is a 5**** hunting lodge renown for outstanding traditional cuisine. If you choose to extend your stay, you will be able to dine under the stars and fall asleep to the sound of the cascading river at a comfortable luxury safari tent.  Non-riding activities include deer hunting, fly fishing, hiking and spa.   • Ride Itinerary - High Country Horseback Ride

    Day 1:
    You will explore the open hill country as you follow deer trails which cross valleys and creeks.  The views are amazing!

    Day 2:  
    Today, you will ride through the expansive 6,000 acre native Beech Forest. Cross to the next valley to our wilderness outpost. Fall asleep to the sound of the Morepork (native owl)

    Day 3:
    Cross the range to our luxury riverside Safari Camp, ride through native beech forest, take in the views of the Mohaka River from the highest vantage point.  Dine by the Mohaka River, and experience the sleep of a lifetime.

    If you choose the 4 day option.
    Day 4:
    Depart the Camp for The Dawn Ride including outdoor breakfast on the hill. Return to the Lodge for a well-earned massage or spa treatment Day 5   Ride the open country and visit the neighbors at milking time.

    FOUR NIGHT PACKAGE Includes:  four nights share double/twin accommodation, country breakfasts, picnic lunch, canapés,  gourmet dinners, beverages except for wines,  same day personal laundry service, three days riding and a massage or spa treatment. Accommodation options include the Lodge and our luxury riverside Safari Camp.
    FIVE NIGHT PACKAGE Includes: five nights share double/twin accommodation, three at the Lodge, one at luxury riverside Safari Camp, one at Mountain Hut, dinners (including Hangi, traditional Maori method for cooking), country breakfasts, picnic lunches, beverages except for wine,  same day personal laundry service, four days riding and a massage or spa treatment.
