Ride Overview - Horse Riding Adventure in Transylvania
A delightful horseback riding vacation in Transylvania! This land beyond the forest still feels undiscovered. So, pack your garlic and get ready to ride across one of Eastern Europe’s most captivating regions. Described as ‘the last truly medieval landscape in Europe,’ traveling around Transylvania feels like you’ve stepped back in time. Horse-drawn carts rumble along dirt roads. Shepherds tend to their flocks. This is a favored region of Prince Charles who even claims kinship with the region’s most infamous son. He’s a great-grandson 16 times removed from Vlad the Impaler. Horses are the best way to experience the region as crater-sized potholes and an odd stray dog challenge the roads. Depending on weather conditions, you will cover an adventurous 9 – 24 miles/15 – 40 km riding distance rides on mountain paths. Traditional meals are enjoyed with picnics in the forest and dinners in local homes or picturesque lodges. This beautiful riding country is complemented by the exceptionally friendly people living there. Native horses carry you through fairytale hardwood forests and wildflower meadows. Winding medieval trails will lead you to picturesque villages, ancient fortresses, Europe’s largest volcanic calderas, and old mines. During this ride, you will be immersed in the area’s intriguing folklore and traditional music. Your adventure includes a visit to Dracula’s Bran Castle, a walking tour of Cluj Napoca, the very heart of Transylvania, the precious gem of Sighisoara, a small fortified Saxon town and Borgo Pass, famous from Bram Stoker’s book “Dracula.” RIDING IN ROMANIA
“An absolutely amazing experience. I have never been to stables with such well trained and behaved horses. The scenery was beautiful and you always knew you were in safe hands. I can’t believe it’s all over, it really was a fantastic holiday from start to finish. I was totally happy with the accommodation and all the hosts were very welcoming. Although I am a fussy eater (and didn’t expect to like new food) there was always plenty to choose from so nobody ever went hungry. I rate your service 10 out of 10. Overall my experience was brilliant! Very well organised and challenging. ” S. F.
