  • Ride Overview - Iceland Rift Valley Waterfall Ride
    • Premier Lodging
    • Stationary
    • Valleys/Mountains

This Icelandic horseback riding vacation embraces the rugged mystical scenery of both the Lord of the Rings and the Game of Thrones! Secluded lava and birch lined trails found between the North American and Eurasian continental plates will provide you with a magnificent insight of  the fascinating geology and history of Iceland. Your itinerary includes riding through the volcanic Hengill Valley, the high mountain plateau, into the Rift Valley  and Gullfoss Waterfall. Non-riding activities include tour of the famous historical  Þingvellir, hot steam bath over a hot spring, a Finnish dry sauna and different hot tubs in the Fontana SpaFontana Spa. Your vacation can be extended to include whale watching, beach riding or just enjoying the local culture. You have a choice of either 3*** or 4**** lodging. Your mount is a  sturdy Icelandic Horse whose special gait, the tölt, is a very comfortable four beat gait similar to the rack of the American Saddlebred. The horse can go very fast in this particular gait and gait is ideal for long distance traveling. In spite of their small size (about 140 cm), they are considered horses not ponies and carry easily a full-grown adult.   RIDING IN ICELAND
