    • Rugged Countryside
    • Rugged Flatlands

This horseback riding vacation allows you to ride with guides who have dedicated their lives to the Icelandic horse and good horsemanship! In addition, you will ride through western Iceland’s idyllic countryside. This region is regarded as the setting for most of the Icelandic sagas and is termed the “real” Iceland.  On some days, you will even ride with a herd of horses. The feeling of riding through the highlands with 50 free horses is difficult to describe. All that is known is that it’s where you will feel free. Your trails will take you across a flatter terrain that’s closer to civilization and requires less off-roading. You will enjoy a full day’s ride that goes from farm to farm, over craggy riverbanks and across stunning beaches. This trek is challenging, but at the same time, your guides will make sure that you’re comfortable.  This equestrian vacation will leave you with a natural high!   RIDING IN ICELAND

“This will be third trek in Iceland with Gudmar, and if that is not a great endorsement in itself, add stunning landscapes, beautiful and wonderfully trained horses, all the cozy comforts of home with fabulous food, wine, and comaraderie … not to mention the expert and professional guidance of Gudmar and his staff. They really care that you come away excited and happy …. And Rejkavik, what a charming place to start and end the adventure, with cobblestoned streets, friendly people, and fabulous restaurants! My husband and I were never ones to repeat destinations , wanting always to try something new … but Iceland and Gudmar’s trips are an exception to the rule.”  S.B.
