This horseback riding vacation will take you through Vermont. This state is one of the most rural and history-rich regions in the United States. Your trails will lead across the beautiful Mad River Valley nestled between the Green Mountains. Steeped in American colonial charm, you will enjoy steepled churches and picturesque mountain villages on Icelandic horses known for the smooth four-beat running walk, the tolt. The Sugarbush rides feature plenty of opportunities to enjoy foliage and activities like studying birds and wildlife—even fishing if you are so inclined. To loosen up and avoid getting sore, you will do some hiking while leading your horse. Along the way, you can explore a tempting swimming hole, pick a mouthful of berries, or just relax while enjoying the scenery. All tours are led by experienced horse persons with thorough knowledge of the area. You’ll enjoy comfortable lodging and gourmet dining, all with a generous helping of Vermont hospitality. For lunch, you will either partake in a delicious picnic served in a picturesque spot or served at a specially selected restaurant. This is the perfect escape for those who appreciate comfort and fine dining but still want an active and unusual vacation. You’ll return home rested with the memory of newly found friends and shared adventures. The Icelandic Horse that gave you the overwhelming feeling of floating across the scenic Vermont countryside is likely to keep a special place in your heart forever.

“Visitors feel they’ve discovered a best-kept secret, and then race home to tell everyone they know!”
